Clark Fork Fishing Report – 5/28

L-DSC_0174

The Clark Fork is on the downturn again until we get some more warm weather. From the top down, we’re seeing a slow descending flow. The clarity is decent up top, but starts to diminish as you get closer to town. If you’re heading to the upper sections, you might want to consider stopping at Rock Creek and hitting up the salmon fly hatch. It just started gettin going and should offer some spectacular fishing if you’re in the area. But! If I can’t steer you up here and you’re set on the Clark Fork, Expect some Drakes, BWOs, a possibility of some salmon flies, and caddis in the evenings. Dry dropper rigs have been working well through the day. For a dry/dropper, an orange or purple chubby with a prince nymph, batman nymph, or a hares ear should work well. For streamers, little zonkers, sculpzillas, and standard buggers in brown or black have been the ticket.

HATCHES: MDrakes, a few BWOs, caddis

Other Info: The Kingfisher is the largest dealer of Simms Fishing Products in the Rocky Mountains.
