Bitteroot Fishing Report – 7/1

L-98

The fishing on the East and West Fork has been a good option with the colder water and the morning and evening fishing has been great. But…. The lower river temp’d out at 76 degrees last night, which isn’t good in any way. As for the evening, it’s standard summer fare, but you might want to consider the ethical implications that most of the fish you catch later in the day will have a tough time from the low oxygenated water…. so you might want to give those little buggers a break. For dries, use PMDs, drakes, yellow sallies, caddis, Golden stones, hoppers, and other attractor patterns. For nymphs, use pheasant tails, caddis pupae, mayflies, small micro stones and Pat’s rubber legs. For Streamers use dark bodied buggers and sculpin patterns.
