Bitteroot Fishing Report – 8/12

L-67

Hoot Owl restrictions are now lifted

Fishing up on the West Fork has been quite good, although fishing on the lower end, closer to Missoula, should still be productive. As with everything, it’s standard summer fare. Dry/dropper or picking off the risers. For dries, use PMDs, tricos, drakes, yellow sallies, caddis, Golden stones, hoppers, and other attractor patterns. For nymphs, use pheasant tails, caddis pupae, mayflies, small micro stones and Pat’s rubber legs. For Streamers use dark bodied buggers and sculpin patterns.

HATCHES/Flies: Golden Stones, PMDs, caddis, yellow sallies, hoppers. Dark, heavy nymphs for subsurface. JJ’s specials, articulated streamers, bead-head woolly buggers.
