Bitteroot Fishing Report – 8/24

L-41

Today’s cloud cover has the potential to give up some very good dry fly fishing if the weather will cooperate. A hopper/dropper rig should be a pretty decent bet to start with until the bugs start popping. For dries, use PMDs, Small baetis, purple hazes, tricos, drakes, yellow sallies, caddis, Golden stones, hoppers, and other attractor patterns. For nymphs, use pheasant tails, caddis pupae, mayflies, small micro stones and Pat’s rubber legs. For Streamers use dark bodied buggers and sculpin patterns.

HATCHES/Flies: Tricos, PMDs, caddis, yellow sallies, hoppers. Dark, heavy nymphs for subsurface. JJ’s specials, articulated streamers, bead-head woolly buggers.
