Bitteroot Fishing Report – 8/5

Bitterroot River Fishing Report - 3/29

DSCN1777** Hoot Owl restrictions are in play from Tucker Crossing downstream till the confluence of The Clark Fork**

Not so much . . .unless you’re already a 3 pack of Camel no filters kinda animal already. LOTS of smoke up here from fires near Lolo and in Idaho, and while the 1/2 day’s worth of fishing can be pretty good, conditions are less than ideal with falling ash! The cooler nights are continuing to help moderate water temps with a high on the lower river of 69 yesterday. The lower river is also the place to be for trico sippers if that’s your deal although by mid morning, they’ve been turning off them hard. The upper sections are a no-brainer for easier dryfly fishing on less glassy water but because of this, it has been seeing considerably more traffic. PMDs, hoppers, and caddis are all you’ll need up here.

HATCHES/Flies: hoppers , ants, tricos, PMDs, caddis, yellow sallies,
