With the change of seasons taking place, the conditions and fishing have been a little difficult to peg. Until the temps start to be a little consistently cooler, the top water fishing is going to be a day to day deal as far as quality goes. but with the cooler nights the streamer bite has really started picking up. With that in mind, heading out to the Bitterroot is certainly worth your time if you’re swingin meat. For dry flies, use parachute adams, October caddis, tricos, hecubas, BWOs, baetis, and attractors. For nymphs, use prince nymphs, copper Johns, military mayflies, caddis pupae, san juan worms, etc. For streamers, two toned articulated patterns have been fishing best.
