Bitterroot Fishing Report – 10/21

Bitterroot Fishing Report - 4/10

Guided Fly Fishing Bitterroot river
Kingfisher Employee Scott Hickey on the Bitterroot 3/16/2014

“Ye gods of this land! Preserve my son, the last and only anchor of my house, now settled in Thrace, the land of snow, safe in the keeping of his father’s friend. Some fresh disaster is in store, a new strain of sorrow will be added to our woe. Such ceaseless thrills of terror never wrung my heart before.”

It’s still a bit of a boat show out on the Bitterroot. Pressure usually has a direct correlation with productivity, though. We did hear rumors that there is (or was) some backhoe/excavation work being done around Bell Crossing, and it was turning the water to chocolate milk. Maybe avoid that area for a day or two. For dry flies, use parachute adams, October caddis, tricos, Hecubas, BWOs, baetis, and attractors. For nymphs, use prince nymphs, copper Johns, micro mayflies, caddis pupae, san juan worms, etc.
