Bitterroot Fishing Report - 4/5

Bitterroot Fishing Report - 4/5

Beginning in April, once a week we will post a brief description of a rig we saw during the previous week that had one of our Kingfisher stickers on the window. When you recognize it as being your car described in our hatch report, stop into the shop and pick out 2 dozen nymphs or dries on us!!

This week’s winner of the two dozen free flies, just for having a Kingfisher sticker in his window, is a….. (drum roll)

Blue Ford Bronco: with the last two digits of the license plate being… 58

Drive your rig down to the shop and pick up your bugs!  Thanks for being a Kingfisher customer.

The Bitterroot is flowing at 2200 cfs today, and is still holding decent clarity.  With the rain and moderate wind today, I would recommend taping together a whole bunch of grocery bags in a parka-like-fashion before duck taping the whole thing to your body and spray painting it camouflage.  You’ll also want to be using some low riding skwala patterns on top in case the bugs choose to participate with the weather.  Otherwise you can count on the subsurface action to be decent.  Underneath you’ll want to be using olive colored double beaded stones, micro stones, pheasant tails, red copper johns, olive mottled Pat’s rubber legs and some San Juan worms.  Streamers would also be a great choice today.  Anything with a darker sculpin like profile should turn some fatties today in the rain.  Seriously though, Don’t forget your grocery bag parka, it could make all the difference on a day like today.
