Bitterroot Fishing Report – 6/12

L-DSCN1873

The Bitterroot is taking its time dropping into fishable shape.  The upper sections are fishing the best from Darby up, but you can still find some fish in the back and side channels on the lower reaches.  The flow on the Bitterroot near Missoula is standing around 10,600 cfs with poor clarity.  if you’re inclined to find some water up here, streamers have been the most productive with dark colored bodies and big heads, something like a woolhead sculpin or a mouthwash.  Hitting some of the lakes in the area is still a good bet. Hit those with small, dark Woolly Buggers, scuds or pheasant tails under an indicator, and parachute adams and Goddard caddis on top.
