Bitterroot Fishing Report – 6/26

Simms Waders

With the warmer weather we’ve been having the flows have bumped up too 8400 cfs and the clarity is still improving.  The best fishing has still been in the back and side channels but you can expect the main channel to start picking up as well.  Streamers and nymphs have been working best in the mediocre clarity, but dry flies have started to show up as well.  For nymphs, use pheasant tails, caddis pupae, scuds, small micro stones and Pat’s rubber legs. For Streamers use dark bodied buggers and sculpin patterns.  If you do see some golden stones or salmon flies popping, use a yellow or orange chubby Chernobyl for your best luck.  Parachute adams and purple hazes are your best bet for any baetis you may see popping today.

Weekend Fishing Tunes: Weezer, Pinkerton

They love soccer, and they love to rock.

HATCHES/Flies: Salmonfly, and other attractor patterns, extended bodies and cripples for the green drakes/March browns. Dark, heavy nymphs for subsurface. JJ’s specials, articulated streamers, bead-head woolly buggers.
