Bitterroot Fishing Report – 6/7

Blackfoot, River, Fishing, Report, simms, g3Beginning in April, once a week we will post a brief description of a rig we saw during the previous week that had one of our Kingfisher stickers on the window. When you recognize it as being your car described in our hatch report, stop into the shop and pick out 2 dozen nymphs or dries on us!!

The Bitterroot is holding relatively steady at 10,000cfs in the lower end, 5,500cfs at the upper end. This is still higher than the historical average, and clarity isn’t great. Your best fishing is going to be in side channels and back eddies with heavy nymph rigs. If you can swing it, you’d be more successful hitting some of the areas lakes and ponds like Painted Rocks Reservoir and Lake Como. Small, dark Woolly Buggers, scuds or pheasant tails under an indicator, and parachute adams and Goddard caddis’ on top should be your best performers.
