Bitterroot Fishing Report – 7/5

Bitterroot Fishing Report - 4/10

L-DSCN1970

The Bitterroot has reverted back to the daily yo-yo game with flows. It’s also the only local river back on the rise. There is more remaining snow down the Bitterroot than anywhere else right now, so it’s possible that the 90 degree days have induced some residual snow-melt runoff. Regardless, it’s preventing the Bitterroot from being a reliable option. But if you’re in the area, feel free to give it a shot. For nymphs, use pheasant tails, caddis pupae, scuds, small micro stones and Pat’s rubber legs. For Streamers use dark bodied buggers and sculpin patterns. You might see some bugs on top, like golden stones and green drakes, so don’t be afraid to bring those along.

Weekend Fishing Tunes: Gary Clark Jr., Blak and Blu

Awesome blues and R&B guitarist/singer out of Austin, TX. Also a childhood friend/neighbor of mine.

HATCHES/Flies: Golden Stones, and other attractor patterns, extended bodies and cripples for the green drakes/March browns. Dark, heavy nymphs for subsurface. JJ’s specials, articulated streamers, bead-head woolly buggers.
