Bitterroot Fishing Report – 8/22

The Bitterroot is open again!  with the night time lows getting pretty cold, the hoot-owl closures have been lifted on the entirety or the Bitterroot.  The Morning fishing has been pretty darn good with lots of PMDs, Baetis, and Tricos.  It’s been taking a little bit for things to warm up and get going, but you’ll know it when it does!  For mid day, Hoppers, Ants, Beatles, Stimulators, elk hairs, and Hopper/dropper rigs have been working well.  The mid day heat is still putting things down mid afternoon but the evening fishing has been making up for it in spades.  Expect Caddis in the evenings with elk hairs, x-caddis, sparkle pupaes, and dancing caddis working well till dark.
