Bitterroot Fishing Report – 8/26

Dry Fly Fishing - Missoula Montana

L-dad-6

The Hecubas are starting to announce their presence on the Bitterroot, and this is reason to be excited. Big hatches of big mayflies later in the season is a ton of fun, and the Bitterroot is historically reliable for providing good Hecuba action. For dries, use large parachute adams, PMDs, Small baetis, purple hazes, tricos, drakes, caddis, Golden stones, hoppers, and other attractor patterns. For nymphs, use pheasant tails, caddis pupae, mayflies, small micro stones and Pat’s rubber legs. For Streamers use dark bodied buggers and sculpin patterns.
