Bitterroot Fishing Report – 8/28

Guided Float trips on the Missouri with The Kingfisher Fly Shop

Blackfoot River Fishing Report - 3/20

The Bitterroot has been fishing very well giving the cooler temps.  With the lifting of the hoot owl closures, the evening fishing has been an excellent option.  The flow above town is hanging around 570 cfs with a temperature ranging in the 60s.  The Morning fishing has been very noteworthy with lots of PMDs, Baetis, hecubas, and Tricos.  For the mid afternoon expect dry dropper rigs to fish best.  Use a big grass hopper, Chernobyl ant, Beetle, Turks tarantula with a copper john, pheasant tail, micro stone, or a batman hanging off the back for your best luck.  For the last 2 hours of fishing in the evening, use an elk hair caddis, X-caddis, Swisher’s dancing caddis, and sparkle pupae to hook into those finicky evening trout.  For Streamers use dark bodied buggers and sculpin patterns.

Tuesday and Thursday FWP will be shocking the Bitterroot between job corps and Conner, so try to avoid it if you can.

The following Tuesday and Thursday they will be shocking between Stevensville and the poker joe access, so don’t be there then.
