Bitterroot report 5/4

DSCN1062There is a slight flow increase on the upper 2/3 of the ‘root this morning compared with this time yesterday, but not enough to give you second thoughts about this river being a good option today.  The lower river is pretty much static flow wise although you can expect a push by tomorrow and even probably later today.  Looks like more wind on tap, but what’s new?  It’s been a WINDY spring!!   The hatches were less compressed yesterday than the day before and bugs were out and about starting about 1 and lasting until about 4 depending on the stretch.  It’s mostly a March brown and skwala deal right now although in calmer conditions, caddis will be HUGE.  Nymphing or deep droppers off your dries will probably be more productive for you before about noon.

1/2 OFF Fridays.  50% Off your 1st dozen nymphs and dries!  Every Friday – Every Week

Additionally, all dries and nymphs are $1.95 every day to begin with and nearly all streamers are $2.25 – EVERY day, EVERY week

HATCHES/Flies: Skwalas, caddis, yellow sallies, March browns,  BWOs. Consider buggers as a streamer option in the slow stuff.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: True run-off generally begins around May 11th. You’ve still got some time – statistically!!
