Bitterroot report – 5/5

DSCN1740DSCN1734There they are!  Nothing special or secret, but these 2 bugs prospecting the surface in tandem have been really good on the Bitterroot lately.  The river is already on the move upward this morning and this trend will likely continue in the face of the drastic warm-up we’re supposed to be seeing. You may be looking at having to do much more subsurface hunting today if the push speeds up.  Looks like more wind on tap, but what’s new?     It’s mostly a March brown and caddis deal right now although in calmer conditions, skwala are still in the game.  Nymphing or deep droppers off your dries will probably be more productive for you if water levels begin to rise more aggressively throughout the day.  If they do, tan or brown San Juans become money!

1/2 OFF Fridays.  50% Off your 1st dozen nymphs and dries!  Every Friday – Every Week

Additionally, all dries and nymphs are $1.95 every day to begin with and nearly all streamers are $2.25 – EVERY day, EVERY week

HATCHES/Flies: Skwalas, caddis, yellow sallies, March browns,  BWOs. Consider buggers as a streamer option in the slow stuff.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: True run-off generally begins around May 11th. You’ve still got some time – statistically!!
