Bitterroot Report – 6/5

greendrakeThe uppermost river is fishing well again after the minor push of water we recently endured.  Salmonflies and golden stones are king up top while caddis and mayfly dries are motivating fish to the surface mid river and lower.  The bright sun today will help with getting the big bugs moving on the upper end, and the main river is still carrying enough color so that today’s bright conditions won’t hurt you on the lower sections.   Keep in mind that the water is still moving right along and you can get into serious trouble in a hurry on the ‘root if you’re not paying attention.  Wading the back channels and fishing the eddies will be very effective if you don’t have a boat.
