Bitterroot River Fishing Report - 3/29

Bitterroot dry fly fishing 3/26
Kingfisher Customer – Trent Bitterroot 3/26

Beginning in April, once a week we will post a brief description of a rig we saw during the previous week that had one of our Kingfisher stickers on the window. When you recognize it as being your car described in our hatch report, stop into the shop and pick out 2 dozen nymphs or dries on us!!
Looks like we’re off and runnin’ for dryfly season 2014! We’re seeing more and more bugs every day and so are the fish. Pretty much every river in the area is giving up some caliber of topwater action with the Bitterroot leading the way. Any kind of low riding stonefly pattern in about a 10 or 12 will get it done for you right now. Putting on a deep dropper about 18″ below your dry will up your chances considerably. Our out of the gate rig has been a foam skwala with an olive p-tail dropper in a 16. Look for your best fishing to be between about 1 and 4. There’s big time construction going on at the Florence Bridge so you’ll want to avoid that. The east side Victor channel has obstruction issues as well.
