Bitterroot River Fishing Report: 4/30

BR-2-LThe uppermost river might treat you ok, but the river from about Darby downstream is going to need a day to get its act together.  It’s not that you can’t catch some fish up here today, but you’ll work much harder for them than you have been or even will be tomorrow.  Pretty substantial pushes of water over the past 48 hours will have the fish off their game a bit, but the levels are dropping hard again this morning.  With little wind and much warmer daytime highs in the forecast, the ‘root is RIGHT on the edge of giving up some crazy good fishing again.  If you have the option, we’d suggest waiting until tomorrow, at least, then bringing out your March brown, skwala and caddis box to rock the fatties’ world!  With the crazy warm temps in the forecast, though, we could be seeing the beginning of a somewhat early runoff by the beginning on next week or even Sunday.  Get it while you can!

1/2 OFF Fridays.  50% Off your 1st dozen nymphs and dries!  Every Friday – Every Week

HATCHES/Flies:
Skwalas, caddis, nemouras, March browns, capnias, BWOs. Consider buggers as a streamer option in the slow stuff.
