Blackfoot – 5/2

BR-5-1-L-13The Blackfoot is dropping this morning and running about 100 cfs less near Bonner than it was yesterday morning.  With the seemingly ever changing weather forecasts, it now looks like runoff could be postponed at least a few more days as the daytime highs will be considerably lower than originally predicted.  Combine this with overnight lows still in the 30s and your window of potentially great fly fishing on the Blackfoot looks to be a bit longer.  Expect to see  good March brown and caddis dry fly action over the next few days and likely through the weekend.  The streamer fishing up here should also be GONZO as the water levels fall.  We’re always fans of black or brown, but in bright and sunny conditions, look for yellow and chartreuse to be the colors of choice.
