Blackfoot Fishing Report – 10/10

L-22

The wind could slow down your top water prospects up here today, but the subsurface fishing that has been very consistent should remain that way if dry fly conditions become less than ideal. The Blackfoot has also bumped up in flows from all the rain, but should still be a good option. There are good numbers of mahoganies up here in the sunny afternoons, and decent numbers of caddis too. The fish are seeing enough of the October caddis so bigger, bushy tied offerings with droppers that’re allowed to swing at the end of the drift should be effective. A #14 royal Wulff has been working about as well as anything up here for the mahoganies. Batman nymphs, leggy double beaded stones, and red San Juans have been fishing well for us subsurface. If you devote yourself to fishing streamers all day, you won’t rack up big numbers, but you’ll likely turn a few VERY big fish.

HATCHES: hecubas, hoppers, tricos, nocturnal stones, October caddis, BWOs, etc.
