It’s been taking awhile for things to get going on the surface for sure lately, but when they do, there are a few hours of VERY good dry fly action for some really nice sized fish. We’ve been doing well with widely spaced mahogany droppers off the back of October caddis. Having the mahogany at the farthest placement allows more accurate casts with the mayfly hitting seams, etc. Streamers are mining up big fish as well right now, but color remains a day to day affair regardless of sun or clouds. Some days it’s white, the next day, under similar conditions, it’ll be black. Switch it up and see. Double beaded stones (in peacock) and red San Juans are doing about as well as anything else under an indicator. In the lower flows, the weight of those two bugs is all you’ll need to get it down where you need it, generally speaking. You do want to be deep.
