Blackfoot Fishing Report – 3/25

Clark Fork River Fishing Report - 4/4

L-30

The fishing is picking up here but still a matter of getting on the bottom whether you’re fishing nymphs or streamers. Dryfly opportunities are here and there but can be VERY VERY good when they happen. Midges, skwalas, and March Browns are the surface goods. Avoiding pools deeper than about 7′ will keep your subsurface offerings in contention. The past couple of days, our best rig on the lower 1/2 of the river has been either a black or rust colored bugger or bunny with a pink San Juan off the bend of the hook about 10″. Dead drift this set-up with a slow drag (yeah, I know that’s a contradiction, you know what I mean) and set hard on even the slightest bump. Some of our biggest fish lately have been BARELY perceptible. On the upper river, our best rig – by far – continues to be a hare’s ear in tandem with the worm. Slower moving, water about 5′ deep is the happy stuff

***We will be closed on Monday March 28th for construction***
