Blackfoot Fishing Report – 5/5

Dry Fly Fishing - Missoula Montana

L-62

The Blackfoot is flowing at 2900cfs and on the rise. If you’re planning on heading up here you better make it quick before we see the next push of water. You can expect tandem nymph rigs to fish best most the day with pheasant tails, supermans, San Juan worms, north fork specials, and rubberlegs. Streamers should turn some big fish too. The best luck with streamers has been with big dark articulated junk. Keep in mind the river is still a little high. In these conditions the fish get moved from mid river to the banks to escape the strong current. So keep your rigs tight to the banks and be careful.
