Blackfoot Report – 6/1

Bitterroot Fishing Report - 4/5

BR-5-1-S-10

We’re leaving the same pictures in place for this report because, as they say, “a picture’s worth a thousand words”!  That’s definitely the case here.  While we’ve actually be doing well on this river for some time now, water clarity and accessibility is good enough at this point where pretty much everyone can get a shot at the happy stuff that’s been going on.  It has been streamer madness up here for BIG, BIG fish lately – and we mean madness!!   If you have a boat, you’ll definitely be at an advantage, but fishing carefully chosen runs that are a bit slower and not more than about 6′ deep should get you hooked up too.  Nymph rigs are working well also if you keep your offerings right off the bottom.  Yellow, peach or chartreuse streamers will work the best for you today in the bright conditions, but greasing up a black woolhead or similar dark bodied streamer and skating it JUST subsurface will produce some frightening brown trout takes. We expect good surface action as well today with attractors, drakes and afternoon caddis. Good stuff Maynard.  Today’s flow at Bonner is 4700 cfs compared with 3580 a year ago today
