Blackfoot Report – 8/29

DSCN2051

**All the Blackfoot Tributaries are going on Hoot Owl restrictions as of this Saturday (8/24).  This includes the North Fork, Landers Fork, Belmont, Arrastra, Montoure.

Fishing remains good up here with basic tried and true attractor and terrestrial patterns working the best early and midday. Dave’s hoppers, ants, spruce moths etc will all take fish for you.  Water temps are actually cool enough so it’s taking the fatties some time in the mornings before the surface activity is consistent.  Before then, hanging a smaller p-tail dropper deep off the back of whatever should tag you some fish.  The evenings have been ALL about stripped caddis emergers. It’s the difference between occasional fish and takin’ it to ’em.  You’ll also have some luck with trico duns (males obviously) just before dark.  The lower river has become a viable BIG FISH option once again with school starting and the corresponding dearth of tubers.
