Blackfoot River Fishing Report – 3/3

Clark Fork River Fishing Report - 3/27

With the water temps hanging around 34 degrees, the fishing up here is still a little slow.  Expect fish to be in their main winter holds like deep pools and troughs.  Your best bet is still nymphing or dead drifted streamers until the water warms up a bit. Big heavy stonefly nymphs like a double beaded stone or a big pat’s rubber leg should get down deep for you and turn a few heads.  If your looking to toss some streamers, heavy metal sculpins, mouthwashes, and standard buggers are good choices.  Don’t forget it’s officially March, so stop in and grab your 2015 fishing licenses.  The flow on the Blackfoot just above Bonner is right at 1000cfs with great clarity.

HATCHES: Ice, midges

PATTERNS: Streamers, Copper Johns, Psycho Prince, Red or pink San Jaun worms in tandem with size 12 or 14 squirrel tail nymphs. Sculpzilla streamers, JJ’s specials, Prince nymphs, girdle bugs.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: You know we’ll refill your Kingfisher-label gink bottles for a buck, don’tcha?
