Blackfoot River Fishing Report – 4/5

Rock Creek Fishing Report - 4/19

Missouri River Fishing Report - 4/4The Blackfoot peaked from this latest push of warm weather induced water about 2 days ago. Down from about 3800 cfs, the flows today around sitting right around 3200 cfs.  This is still about triple the historical number for this time of year and what that means is our lower and mid elevation snow continues to melt substantially earlier than normal.  Now we’re NOT saying this bodes evil for the fire potential for later this summer, but . . .this bodes evil for the fire potential for later this summer.  Keep your fingers crossed for timely rains during the warm months. What it does mean for sure is very good early season fishing.  We’ve already been doing pretty well up here subsurface on a variety of nymphs and streamers and the dry fly action is just around the corner pending the next warm-up.  Attractor stuff like royal stimis with small p-tail or prince droppers are a good bet this time of year as are low rider skwala patters fished along the slower moving and shallower banks.  Subsurface, it’s the same old game with double beaded stones in tandem with either bigger squirrel tails or hare’s ears.  Whitlock sculpins in black or olive and rootbeer colord crystal buggers are a good option too.

HATCHES: Midges, a smattering of smug Heptageniidae and bodacious baetidae

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: You know we’ll refill your Kingfisher-label gink bottles for a buck, don’tcha?
