Blackfoot River Fishing Report – 5/10

L-DSCN1969

The Blackfoot has been dropping all weekend and is now down under 2900cfs and should continue to drop until we get some more warm weather.  The fishing is going to be marginal with the funky conditions, but still worth the trip before things really cut loose. Get it while you can. Streamers and nymphs are going to be working best but you might still see some top water action. For streamers use Dalai lamas, Flash minnows, Sparkle minnows, and anything big dark and articulated. For nymphs use pheasant tails, hares ears, double beaded stones, egg patterns, Pat’s rubber legs, micro stones, prince nymphs, and San Juan worms. Just in case you do see some dries coming off, a purple haze, parachute adams, or olive chubby should get you covered. Most of the fish are being caught pretty close to the banks, so keep your rigs tight to the shoreline and you should find a couple fish today.
