Blackfoot River Fishing Report – 5/2

Rock Creek Fishing Report - 4/19

Bitterroot Fishing Report - 4/3The Blackfoot’s flows have been fluctuating the least with the funky spring weather we’ve been having.  The flow at Bonner is a little under 3000cfs and should continue to stabilize with the cooler evenings forecast.  It did see a little bump from the early week weather, but not much.  With the flows as high as they are, it’s definitely much more of a boaters game right now.  If you are wade fishing, your best luck is going to be walking the banks and cherry picking the pocket water and obvious pools. Streamers and nymphs are going to be working best but you should still see some top water action. For streamers use Dalai lamas, Flash minnows, Sparkle minnows, and anything big dark and articulated. For nymphs use pheasant tails, hares ears, double beaded stones, egg patterns, Pat’s rubber legs, micro stones, prince nymphs, and San Juan worms. Just in case you do see some dries coming off, a purple haze, parachute adams, or flush floating skwala should get you covered. The Higher flows displace the fish into the banks so keep your junk tight to the shoreline and you should have some success.
