Blackfoot River Fishing Report – 5/30

L-DSCN1873The Blackfoot has started climbing up in flows again.  The clarity is just starting to milk up, but is still decent as far as fishing goes.  The flows has climbed up to 3400cfs and should continue to climb with the warm weekend forecast.  Streamers and tandem nymph rigs will be the name of the game right now with some spotty top water action.  For dry rigs, use a big purple or orange chubbie or a similarly colored circus peanut. For droppers and tandem nymph rigs use a big pat’s rubber leg, black or olive double beaded stone, prince nymph, batman nymph, psycho prince, San Juan worm, or a Montana prince. Drakes, BWO’s, and a few salmon flies have been spotted so have some bigger rogue salmon flies, purple hazes, big standard parachute adams, and extended body drakes for when the hatches start. No matter what you’re using, look for the soft water on the banks and any slack seams to pound. For streamers Dalai Lamas, double gangas, Articulated sparkle minnows, tan sculpzillas, two toned double bunnies, and Krelex minnows.
