Blackfoot River Fishing Report – 7/24

Guided Float trips on the Blackfoot river

The Fishing dosen’t seam to be affected with the spill on the Blackfoot and the closed stretches are now open.  The fishing has been great in the mornings and evening with a little bit of a slow time during the mid day heat.  The best setup is still the dry/dropper rig, but single dries have been doing good work too. For dries use hoppers, Chernobyls, Stimulators, Rogue stones, half downs, bullet heads, parachute adams, purple hazes and elk hair caddis. For nymphs use Pat’s rubber legs, princes, double beaded stones, micro stones, San Juan worms and batman nymphs. For streamers use big dark double bunnies, sculpzillas, mouthwashes, standard buggers, sparkle minnows and dark articulated patterns.Weekend Fishing Tunes: Braid, No Coast

The first album in 16 years from these post-punk veterans is well worth the wait.

HATCHES: golden stones, green drakes, caddis, salmonflies,

PATTERNS: Red or pink San Jaun worms in tandem with size 12 or 14 squirrel tail nymphs. Sculpzilla streamers, JJ’s specials, Prince nymphs, girdle bugs.
