If you’re looking for good all day fishing, the Blackfoot is holding strong through the summer heat. The Hoppers have really started getting chowed but they’re still eating spruce moths in good numbers as well. The best luck has been with hopper dropper rigs fished mid-river but streamers have been turning some big fish too. For dries use big elk hair caddis, spruce moth patterns, hoppers, Chernobyls, Stimulators, Rogue stones, half downs, bullet heads, parachute adams, and purple hazes. For nymphs use Pat’s rubber legs, princes, double beaded stones, micro stones, San Juan worms and batman nymphs. For streamers use big dark double bunnies, sculpzillas, mouthwashes, standard buggers, sparkle minnows and dark articulated patterns.
Weekend Fishing Tunes: Love of Everything, Superior Mold and Die Bobby Burg’s one-man band was just here at the VFW last Wendesday. He put on a great show with his experimental, multi-layered indie/pop.
HATCHES: spruce moths, golden stones, PMDs, caddis PATTERNS: Red or pink San Jaun worms in tandem with size 12 or 14 squirrel tail nymphs. Sculpzilla streamers, JJ’s specials, Prince nymphs, girdle bugs. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: You know we’ll refill your Kingfisher-label gink bottles for a buck, don’tcha?
