Blackfoot River Fishing Report – 9/3

Guided Float trips on the Missouri with The Kingfisher Fly Shop

The cooler evenings and intermittent rain storms have really been helping the fishing.  The water temps are down into the 50s and 60s and with the rain forecast for today, you can expect some even better fishing as fall keeps approaching.  Plus it’s really been helping the smoke problem.  For bugs on the menu today, you can expect lost of PMDs, BWOs, and Tricos in the morning till afternoon.  Hoppers, ants, beatles, chubby chernobyls, stimulators, purple hazes, parachute adams, and general attractors with a dropper will be a good bet through the afternoon.  For droppers use a copper john, batman nymph, Pat’s rubber leg, micro stone, double beaded stone, or a prince nymph.  Streamers have been working well through the deeper runs and holes, so grab something big dark and heavy and really work it for your best luck.  In the evening, the caddis have been coming off in good numbers till after dark.  For the evening hatch, bring some elk hairs, x-caddis, dancing caddis, and some sparkle pupaes.  Swing the sparkle pupaes through the tail outs till the dries really start coming off.  Some really good fish can be picked up with the emerging caddis before the main hatch really starts.
