Blackfoot River Hatch Report – 4/12

KenBanners-BT-012The Blackfoot has gained some consistency this week for sure. There is a much more predictable afternoon bite now on March browns and the deep nymphing is also getting more dependable. Red San Juans are king up here subsurface to the point where we’re fishing 2 in tandem. The streamer fishing is still only okay, but could easily be EVIL good by tomorrow or Sunday. Dark bodied bunny junk is our recommendation if you decide to drop depth charges.
HATCHES: Caddis, nemouras, March Browns, BWOs, a skwala or two on the lower river.
PATTERNS: Size 12 elk hairs, parachute Adams or size 14 royal Wulffs, Powell’s bunny sculpins, whitlock sculpines in black. Red or pink San Jaun worms in tandem with size 12 or 14 hare’s ear nymphs.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: You know we’ll refill your Kingfisher label gink bottles for a buck dontcha?
