Clark Fork Fishing Report – 3/31

L-37

The Clark Fork is definitely seeing the sporadic flows associated with spring.  With the inconsistent weather you can expect to see a couple minor bumps and drops until we really see some warmer weather kick off.  The flow above ton is sitting around 2000cfs. The fishing on the upper sections above Missoula has been well worth the drive up here.  The lower sections are still turning fish, its just much more of a boaters game now.  Skwalas and March browns have started popping in good numbers. Be prepared with some March brown and skwala patterns in the way of parachute adams, Parachute pheasant tails, rogue skwalas, carnage skwalas, Bullet head skwalas, flush floaters, and peacock Barr flies. For subsurface patterns, look at using olive stone fly nymphs, pheasant tails, micro stones, San Juan worms, micro stones, Pat’s rubber legs, and prince nymphs. For streamers use double gangas, dungeons, buggers, sparkle minnows, and dark sculpin patterns.

HATCHES: midges, skwalas, march browns
