Clark Fork Fishing Report – 4/20

L-51

The Clark Fork is seeing the same trend that all our rivers are seeing with a drop in flows from the weekend. Today’s weather will start to change that again with a forecast high close to 80 degrees. The lower river is still over 7,900cfs so, if you’re looking to head out today I would consider fishing above town. The best fishing has been in the back and side channels, as well as any spring seeps but the main stem hasn’t been bad. Fishing streamers and tandem nymph rigs will be your best bet with pheasant tails, bigger green machines, amber princes, jigstones, San Juans, and rubber legs.  For streamers use flash fries, sparkle minnows, double dirty-hippies, sculpzillas, and haymaker sculpins. You may still see some March browns, drakes, and skwalas popping on top, so be prepared with some parachute adams, foamulators, D&D cripples, carnage drakes and olive chubbies.

HATCHES: March Browns, skwalas, grey drakes, baetis
