Clark Fork Fishing Report – 8/26

Blackfoot River Fishing Report - 3/25

The Clark Fork’s flow is skipping around 1800cfs and the water temps are staying right in the 60s. With the absence of the hoot owl closures, the evening fishing has finally been an option, and a good one at that. in the mornings you can expect PMDs, tricos, and hecubas hatching in pretty good numbers till afternoon. For the morning fare, use a parachute PMD, Tricochute, trico spinner, PMD emerger and big Parachute adams for the hecubas. For the afternoon, use a hopper dropper rig along with ants, beatles, and cherobyl ants. In the evening you can expect some really good caddis hatches. An elk hair caddis in a size 14 or 16, likewise sized goddards, and x caddis will work well for the late evening stuff. Streamers have been an all-day-long deal, black or brown boddied streamers and sparkle minnows have been working well for the leviathans. Fish’em through the deeper holes and runs for your best luck.
