Clark Fork Report -10/11

The Clark above Missoula has been much more consistent than the river through town or below.  It’s been streamer happiness above town for sure.  The lower river has been manic lately with wild swings between epic and . . . not so much.  The lack of wind is helping a bit as of late and tomorrow’s predicted clouds ought to up your odds even more. While the best fishing continues to be between about 1 and 4, there is usually enough action subsurface before and after (and even sometimes instead of) to keep things interesting.  Black buggers have switched out our lighter colored success lately and double beaded stones, p-tails, batmans and red San Juans will tag you some fish before prime time.  A Schroeder’s hopper with a 20″ size 16 p-tail has been a very good prospecting rig from early morning right through the day.
