Clark Fork Report – 11/7

While it’s chilly out here these days, there is still some good fishing to be had and the best part is, you don’t have to get out there until about the crack of noon to get it done.  While the dryfly action is now limited to only a couple of hours “heat” of the day, it can be fun stuff on small midges and baetis.  This is also a great river and time of year to SLOOOOOW strip soft hackles in foamy backwaters where the fish are taking advantage of little current and big time food collection.  Peacock bodied midge patterns like Griffith’s gnats often work in this capacity as well.  Brown silli leg stones and small black buggers with red San Juan trailers dead-drifted right off the banks can be effective too.
