Tomorrow will likely be a better baetis day than today’s bright and sunny conditions, but if the wind doesn’t get going to the degree they’re saying it might, the mahoganies should keep the fish looking up. We’ve been having good fishing along most of the length of the Clark recently with the uppermost river fishing very well on streamers and the lower river giving it up best on midday and late afternoon dries. While the best fishing continues to be between about 1 and 4, there is enough action subsurface before and after to keep things interesting. White or yellow buggers seem to be the preferential colors river-wide and double beaded stones, p-tails, batmans and red San Juans will tag you some fish before prime time. A Schroeder’s hopper with a 20″ size 16 p-tail has been a very good prospecting rig from early morning right through the day.
