REPORT:
Well, in recently typical Clark Fork fashion, this river fished inconsistently from section to section. The uppermost reaches saw good dryfly action on skwalas and streamers. The lower river, in general, saw few bugs short of some fairly compressed and widely scattered afternoon hatches which made for better nymphing. It seems like the weather forecast is as fickle as the hatches lately, too, so the latest prognostication is for wind, partly cloudy skies and lower highs than were originally called for. If the wind doesn’t get to crazy, the overcast may bode well for more March brown activity. Brown rubber legs and red San Juans are a sure bet if the fish aren’t looking up. Dark bodied streamers will help you search for “gonzo”! ; )
