Clark Fork Report – 6/1

REPORT:

Oh yeah!  The Clark is dropping once again and is back on track in spades all along its length.  The upper reaches are fishing well with streamers while the lower river has been providing some very good streamer and nymph action before about 11 then transitioning into stellar dryfly fishing from about noon on.  There is an inordinate number of salmonfly adults buzzing around on the lower river and enough drakes around so fishing silly big parachute dries is working too.  Like the ‘root, the Clark is carrying enough color still, so that the first bright day we’re having in awhile today probably won’t do much to dissuade the rise.  Salmonfly or big junky looking attractor dries with deep (20″) droppers of red San Juans or brown silli legs will do good things today.  So will fishing obnoxiously large parachute mayflies tight to the banks.  You’re in for some fishing this weekend in the Missoula area for sure!
