Clark Fork Report – 6/29

DSCN4174REPORT:

Clouds are almost always a better deal on the Clark Fork (as the past 2 weeks have demonstrated – how was THAT for crazy good fishing), but this time of the year with the water on the drop, bright sun isn’t the issue it can be in August.  While there was an ABRUPT slow down on the Clark the first day of bright conditions, (as there ALLLLLWAYS is), the river is back on track giving up very good topwater action on attractor/dropper rigs, larger parachute mayflies, exacting PMD imitations, and evening caddis.  The caddis has been stupid good from about 7 until dark.  Olive bodied streamers are pounding the fatties before noon and yesterday, hoppers with PMD dropper rigs were the no change recipe.  It’ll be good even in the sun today.

1/2 OFF Fridays.  50% Off your 1st dozen nymphs and dries!  Every Friday – Every Week

HATCHES: golden stones, drakes, PMDs, caddis, hoppers on the warm afternoons.

FLIES: Big button emergers or parachute patterns, standard stonefly attractor junk with 18″ droppers. Big prince nymphs, Peacock double beads, Griffith’s gnats and zebra midges on sunny days, slow moving crystal buggers or bunny junk in #8s that’re peach or yellow, double dutch skwala, size 18 adams or purple haze.
