Clark Fork Report – 6/5

BR-5-1-S-6

REPORT:

The Clark is dropping again, like all the local rivers, and it has been fishing well in the side channels and slower back eddies.  It’s only going to get better as flows continue to drop.  This past weekend, some of the braids below Missoula were giving up very good nymphing and decent dryfly fishing with bigger parachute Adams.  The lower river has been seeing good stonefly activity with both giant goldens AND salmonflies on the warmer days.  Look for the evening caddis to come into play in a big way as daytime highs climb back up to normal and sunny conditions during the day get the bugs more active.  The pike have been on the bite below town, too, and big browns have been playing way down low on the river and then sections way above Missoula too.  Big water on this river so don’t get complacent rowing or wading, things can go really bad, really quickly.
