Clark Fork Report – 6/9

S-1

REPORT:

The uppermost sections of the Clark are stable from a flow perspective and should be fishing well. Golden stones, caddis, some salmonflies and bigger mayflies will all motivate fish to the surface midday.  Good evening caddis fishing too.  Darker bodied streamers in the bright sun have been very effective up top as well.  The lower river is up about 1500 cfs in the past 2 days.  That’s enough to at least make things different down here.  The hatches of giant goldens and salmonflies on the lower river, as well as gonzo evening caddis hatches, will likely have fish opportunistically rising even in the sketchy conditions.  It won’t be like it was a few days ago, but it wont totally suck either.  Hang a red San Juan 20″ under your big dries to keep things even more interesting.  Through town and just below, it’ll be a back channel affair short of which, you’ll work hard for whatever you get.
