Clark Fork Report – 7/18

S-4***Be aware that the Big Eddy (Superior access) to Slowey stretch is closed due to fire fighting efforts on the West Mullen fire.  You can still take out in Superior and launch at Slowey, but the section between those accesses is off limits to all recreation**

Early and late fishing has been the best gig recently, although the evening option is something to watch carefully with the lower river near Superior hitting the 74 degree mark yesterday.  On some sections, the tricos are making a strong morning appearance and on the lower river, spruce moths have become much more relevant tool.  You can pretty much count on very good fishing from Missoula all the way downstream beginning at first light until about 1 p.m. when it’ll shut off like a light switch.  Cripples, comparaduns, parachutes and believe it or not . . size 12 or 14 royal Wulffs on pods of selective trico sippers!

1/2 OFF Fridays.  50% Off your 1st dozen nymphs and dries!  Every Friday – Every Week

HATCHES: golden stones,  PMDs, caddis, spruce moths, hoppers, tricos

FLIES: Para Adams, cripples, comparaduns, standard stonefly attractors. Skating any kind of caddis in a 10 or 12 during the evening hatch will provide some fishy amusement.

Other Info: Buy a bottle of Kingfisher brand fly floatant and we’ll refill it for you for 1 measly dollar all year long!
