Clark Fork Report – 7/9

DSCN4111REPORT:

The heat has been with us long enough now that the fatties are getting semi- acclimated.  The midday fishing has returned to a respectable level of consistency even if it’s not what it was 2 weeks ago.  It can be in a hurry, though, with ANY kind of cloud cover.  PMDs and ants have been our best midday medicine although smaller hoppers and ridiculously deep red San Juan droppers are a close second.   The evening caddis hatch remains consistent and is providing some of the best fishing of the day.  Opportunistic feeding on attractors will keep the surface action pretty good starting at first light. The uppermost river is shedding algae in a big way But from Missoula down, it’s all good.

1/2 OFF Fridays.  50% Off your 1st dozen nymphs and dries!  Every Friday – Every Week

HATCHES: golden stones,  PMDs, caddis, hoppers on the warm afternoons.

FLIES: Para Adams, cripples, comparaduns, standard stonefly attractors. Skating any kind of caddis in a 10 or 12 during the evening hatch will provide some fishy amusement.

Other Info: Buy a bottle of Kingfisher brand fly floatant and we’ll refill it for you for 1 measly dollar all year long!
