Clark Fork Report – 9/18

DSC_0428Nice fall weather looks to be on tap finally. With this being the case, look for your best fishing to more more and more towards the middle of the day as the nights get longer, the water gets cooler and the fall hatches begin in earnest.  Tricos are still working well in the mornings, but the evening fishing is waning a bit and will fall off even more in the substantially cooler weather.  Hopper/dropper rigs are still a good bet midday, a Schroeder’s hopper for a nocturnal golden with a p-tail dropper is always good this time of year.  Slow moving streamers in black, olive or brown also rock in the fall cool down.  Keeping our fingers crossed for fall drakes and mahoganies!
